TGL (The Guiding Light )2005/7

The Guiding Light’s first ever meeting was held on 7th October 2005. Following in the fine footsteps of the previous church held at the same location;- Messengers of Light. Messengers sadly closed its doors on the 30th September when it’s single remaining founder member and president became too ill to continue. But much of the basic philosophy of Messengers of Light is contained in The Guiding Light, while we continue to evolve and create our own unique identity.  

We meet every Friday at Hayes in Middlesex (find us), our doors opening to the public at 7.00pm when you are welcome to come along for Spiritual Healing – something you will find on offer in most Spiritualist Churches. We invite a different medium to demonstrate his or her gifts of communication with spirit each week, starting at 7.30pm.

For those who wish to learn more about the philosophy of Spiritualism and the many and varied gifts of spirit, we offer a second event (see calendar for details) after the demonstration. This second event, which is free, is as a workshop, where you may learn about Tarot cards, psychic development & mediumship etc. or a talk with questions and answers, discussion or a group meditation. People are welcome to stay for the workshop after the interval when they have their cuppa and a biscuit, or go home – whichever they choose. If you have a burning question, there will always be somebody willing to answer it for you or, if they don’t know the answer, to go away and do their best to find out.  The level of your participation and involvement are up to you.

We believe that Spiritualism is a living religion, or way of life, which moves and changes with the times, we sing modern songs with spiritual words and spiritual meanings and you are encouraged to swing your hips and enjoy them! Sing along to Boyzone, Michael Jackson, S Club 7 and, for the older among us, Louis Armstrong, Daniel O’Donnell, The Seekers …. We only have two songs, one to lift the atmosphere, then down to business with the medium of the week bringing through the messages of love from your friends in spirit. Then one after to enjoy the energy created by the medium. We believe that communication with spirit is a happy event, so we encourage laughter and fun. There are times, of course, when the message is serious and respect should be given. But, if your old Nan had a wonderful sense of humour which you loved while she was here – well, she has still got it! The members of the group which runs The Guiding Light have irrepressible senses of humour too, so we seize any excuse for having fun.

Our philosophy is that our Centre should be one where people can enjoy themselves, receive their messages from their loved ones, and further their own personal development if they wish to. We try to be educational and supportive if you are new to spiritualism or developing your own gifts. We invite you join us for a cuppa and share your experiences, as well as just enjoying the company of other like-minded individuals. We aim to be adaptable to new developments and practices in Spiritualism, and ready to adopt new ideas and thinking in general.

All are welcome – and we mean all – at The Guiding Light. Your children are welcome to come along (entrance is free to the age of 16), and you can bring your animal friends too. And both children and animals are welcomed for spiritual healing. If you have any comments to make about the way The Guiding Light is run, the quality of the mediumship and second events etc, we are always willing to listen and learn from you. After all, you will only come if you enjoy it! We may not always implement your suggestions, but we are ready to learn from your ideas.
